ah..ah...
ah..ah..Sam's latest vocabulary obsession has been evolved around sounds of crows. She gets super excited when crows fly by and stop by the trees in our neighborhood. I imagine she's thinking how cool it would be to fly and be up somewhere high where it would be for sure beyond the patrol limit of daddy and mommy. She's fully mastered the crow's 'ah..ah' crisp sound. Vows are easier to grasp for a language beginner like her so once she got it, she's made sure to let us know as often as she could.
We also have a mini collection of mini Elmo books (each book is 2x2in). To my surprise, she recognized the big bird character (I thought the yellow fur disguise their bird identity pretty well.) being birds and went 'ah..ah..' immediately. I said 'good job' out of the habit of positive enforcements but later realized that at some point, we'll need to take her through various birds and the diverse types of sounds they make. For now, I'm completely happy with her 'ah..ah..' sound and her excitement over seeing these freedom seekers that live 6 feet above the ground level.

Growing up fast
I'm extremely guilty of not posting throughout Sam's first year. Having dropbox being automatically set to upload photos gave me little motivation to post on a blog until now when 'events' in Sam's second year seem a lot more 'interesting' and 'dramatic'. A good example is that earlier today (sunday) Sam had an 'accident' where she got poop all over her hands, mouths (yes inside too) and needless to say, her clothes and crib. I wasn't as petrified as I thought I would have been. Mike and I both programmatically approached this aftermath and started cleaning every corner of the scene. Sam handled this experience with such grace thanks to her unawareness of what poop is all about. This marked the pinnacle of our parenthood. It even beats the pooping in the tub craziness that happened just two days ago. Although this week seems to be themed to poop accident, there are also the other brighter moments like her learning to say several new words such as 'apple', 'ba-ba' (chinese meaning poop or anything dirty), 'aubri' (her cousin), 'two' (every number is a two to her)..etc. She even pointed to the fridge today after dinner saying 'apple'. Oh Sam, you are the apple of our eye forever. Can you stop growing up so fast?
